my story

In 2011, I began an internship in a women’s residential setting for substance abuse and knew right away that counseling was my calling. As I began my career as a counselor, I very quickly recognized the complexity of individual experiences. I became aware of the trauma, grief, and pain that was deeply connected to addiction and other mental health issues and recognized things like addiction and eating disorders as a way to cope with those experiences. I wanted to do all I could to assist in the healing process, which led me to continue my education in social work focusing on mental health. My passion is to assist individuals in healing their mind, body, and spirit to live as their best selves. I firmly believe in meeting clients where they are at and creating a plan for therapy that is individualized to each person’s circumstances, needs, and goals. Working with me is about becoming empowered and building on the strengths you already have, even if you don’t recognize them yet!

my qualifications

I have an Associate’s in Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) and later went on to get a Bachelor’s in Social Work with a minor in Psychology at Marian University in 2015 as well as a Master’s in Social Work specializing in Mental Health at UW Madison in 2020. I worked at a residential treatment center for substance use called Mahala’s Hope for over 10 years, and also had the opportunity to work with teens and women at the Fond du Lac County Social Services.

let’s get personal

I recently moved from the cold weather of Wisconsin to be closer to my family in Texas. Being able to hang out with my 3-year-old nephew was a big reason for my move but leaving the cold weather behind helped a little. I enjoy being in nature, doing yoga, baking, and doing crafts. I am an animal lover but don’t currently have any pets after my recent move, so for now I just stop to pet every dog I can.
