who is Cherie Miller, LPC?

Cherie Miller, LPC

why I founded Food Freedom Therapy™

I am passionate about helping people who are stuck in eating and body image issues because I am recovered from those struggles myself. Eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, orthorexia, OSFED, ARFID, and other food issues are my specialty. I know how hard the journey to freedom from these issues can be, but I also know first-hand that it’s worth it! And I know that you can do it, even if you’re not sure you can.

my qualifications

I have a Master’s in Counseling and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. Before starting my private practice back up, I worked as a program therapist at Center for Discovery, an outpatient eating disorder clinic in Addison, TX. Prior to that, I worked with kids and teens (and their families) at a mental health day hospital called Innovations Northwest in Keller.

Prior to moving back to the DFW area a couple of years ago, I was a counselor at the Eating Disorder Center of Denver’s Connections House, and was a support group leader and volunteer at The Eating Disorder Foundation of Denver. I have 15 years years of experience as an eating disorder mentor, speaker, educator, and advocate. I am also a member of the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals Foundation (iaedp), Texas Counselors Association (TCA), and the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).

let’s get personal

Because I know it is daunting to think about telling personal things to a total stranger, let me tell you a bit about me so we can start getting to know each other. My husband and I have been married 6 years and have a mischievous 5-year-old boy and a feisty 1-year-old daughter. We love to fix up our house or be outside, especially working in our garden or playing a sport. Otherwise, you’ll likely find me with my nose in a book and a cup of coffee in hand.
