my story
I am passionate about this work not just because I want to help people, but because I dealt with anxiety my entire life and wasn’t able to name it (much less address it!) until I started studying social work. I come from a family of healthcare workers and met pediatric hospital social workers through my mom’s employment as a pediatric nurse. The social justice and advocacy pieces of social work mixed with mental health made social work a very natural fit for me.
I believe everyone could benefit from therapy at some point in their life! I want to create a safe space for people to talk through what they are going through, with no judgement.
my qualifications
I have a Master’s of Social Work and am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of Texas, specializing in mental health and substance use. I am specifically trained in opioid use disorder. I currently work at the Eating Recovery Center (ERC) and in the past, worked at the Center for Addiction and Recovery Studies (CARS). I have experience in substance use therapy as well as facilitating psychoeducational groups and drug education classes. I work with all ages, though I especially enjoy working with adolescents and young adults.
my counseling foundations
I draw from a handful of therapeutic models, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and solution-focused therapy. I am also trained in trauma-informed care. I want to practice ecotherapy and love incorporating mindfulness in nature into my work when appropriate.
let’s get personal
I love being in nature! My 2-year-old Catahoula puppy and I are often going on camping and hiking adventures. I also have a 4-year-old tabby cat who prefers to stay at home 🙂 I love to travel and actually studied abroad in England during college.
